Attention Homeschool Families:
We are forming a group to participate in a unique financial experiential learning system, JA World. Junior Achievement is an internationally recognized program that has been enriching children's lives through financial literacy for over 20 years, and now we here in the Yakima Valley have the opportunity to participate in the amazing program.
Imagine a city run by fifth graders. Imagine one of these young consumers rushing to the bank to deposit a paycheck after working a shift at a local retail store or another who works at the local newspaper frantically rushing to meet the story deadline before the paper goes to press. Imagine a fifth-grade mayor meeting with business leaders to discuss the current business climate. Now, imagine eighth-grade students immersed in the experience of creating and maintaining a budget for themselves and their families based on their salary. Imagine one student struggling with the decision to buy a home, comparing health care providers for the family and determining which auto insurance is needed for a new car.
- JA is a fun, educational, interactive, hands-on experience of the free enterprise system. At JA World students learn about American enterprise, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. It is a dynamic, experiential learning system with both a hands-on and curriculum approach to prepare and inspire students for the future. Students experience the connection between hard work and tangible success, earning and learning; personal responsibility, leadership and team building; and the consequences and success of actual decision-making.
- JA BizTown, a program for 4th- 6th graders, is an actual city run entirely by students who are engaged for a day as business owners, employees, consumers, and city officials.
- JA Finance Park, a program for 7th- 9th graders, focuses on personal financial skills such as budgeting, saving, and investing.
- Students prepare for six to eight weeks in the classroom before their daylong JA World practicum.

C.A.P.E.
Christian Association of Parent Educators
Statement of Faith
1. The Bible is the inspired and infallible word of God.
2. There is one living and true God who exists for all eternity in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. All are sinners and in need of salvation.
4. The Lord Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, died on the cross, rose bodily from the dead, and ascended into heaven.
5. We are saved by grace through faith, which is a gift of God, not of our own works. Those who confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in their hearts that He rose from the dead will be saved.
6. That our hope is not in the things of this world, but on our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received eternal life.

CAPE Activities and Programs
MONTHLY
Friday Forum OPEN TO CAPE MEMBERS Classes for infant through High school Friday Forum is a homeschool co-op that meets the third Friday of each month from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm. Some fees apply. Parents are involved in teaching, assisting, or planning classes. We require a yearlong commitment. Our goal is to provide educational and social opportunities, within a Christian framework, for homeschooling families. The classes offered are dependent upon the interest and abilities of the parents involved. We have been able to offer classes in ballet, karate, cooking, jewelry making, and creative writing to name a few. Elementary children each participate in Science, Book Reports and electives. Preschoolers and Jr. /Sr. High have a slightly different program.
